That’s how the e-mail began from one of my clients. Fighting off any urge to reply, “Good, I love tiny houses,” I read on and thankfully kept that one-liner for another day. Yet the entirety of the e-mail floored me. Here it is:

“Wendy, you are now living in my head. After our great work together decluttering my closets, various rooms, and my office, you have made me reconsider what I need and what I acquire, and how my purchase will impact our world. I am on the road toward less, mindful that I play a role in saving our planet! Thank you!” – Jill

Some of my clients call because they have a project that needs my special talents. Deep down, they know it goes beyond one specific clean-up. Without sounding melodramatic, it’s a cry for help.

Now, it’s not a cry for help where anybody’s life is in danger. Yet your quality of life is impacted greatly by your stress level. Clutter certainly heightens that. So when I work with a client, it is as much a teaching/learning experience as it is a project.

Knowing why and how clutter happens becomes every bit as important as the actual project. By learning why you keep ending up with a cluttered space and changing behaviors, you can greatly enhance the quality of your life. If you learn that through our work together, even better.
